John Denver is a popular musician and singer who has touched a lot of people through his music. Many of these were inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell New Mexico. He discovered love for Colorado. He eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's most popular songs about his state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver was by far one of the most well-known musicians who was a symbol of Colorado. In 2011 Denver was chosen as the Hall of Fame's first inductee. Today he personifies the state for people worldwide. While traveling, I will meet people on opposite sides of the planet. For example someone who is from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint as a folk musician and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff originally wrote it to Johnny Cash's tune in mind, but Denver was aware from the very first time he heard the first versions of the song that it could be a huge popular. Following the performance on stage in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver released the song a couple of days later.
